Questions
Locum audiologist FAQs.
- How much does a locum audiologist earn?
- Locum audiologist rates depend on band or grade, speciality, location and how urgent the cover is. Our locum healthcare pay guide sets out illustrative hourly ranges for PAYE and umbrella. Actual rates are agreed per assignment and Actionus always works to achieve the best rate available.
- Do I need to be registered to work as a locum audiologist?
- Yes. You need current registration with the RCCP or AHCS (or the HCPC for hearing aid dispensers), plus right to work in the UK. Before your first shift we also complete DBS, references and occupational health checks.
- Will I be paid through PAYE or an umbrella company?
- Both are available on most assignments. PAYE means you are paid directly with tax and National Insurance deducted. Umbrella means you are employed by an umbrella company that pays you. We explain the take-home difference before you accept a booking.
- Do locums get holiday pay and a pension?
- Yes. Under the Working Time Regulations, holiday pay is accrued at 12.07% of hours worked. Eligible workers are auto-enrolled into a workplace pension and can opt out.
- How quickly can I start a locum audiologist role?
- Once your compliance file is complete, you can be put forward straight away. Many of our audiologists have an ASAP start, with shifts from a few weeks to several months.
