Band 6 Biomedical Scientist in Blood Transfusion

This Band 6 Biomedical Scientist locum position offers an immediate start within a high-volume laboratory setting. The successful candidate will manage critical blood bank operations across a varied shift pattern, including nights and weekends, to ensure continuous clinical support. You will be responsible for processing both emergency and routine samples while adhering to strict safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Execute technical laboratory tasks for both emergency and routine transfusion samples
• Deliver accurate and rapid results to assist with critical clinical decision-making
• Operate autonomously to manage laboratory workflows following a local induction
• Participate in a comprehensive out-of-hours rota comprising nights and weekend shifts
• Uphold rigorous standards of laboratory accuracy and regulatory compliance

What you'll need

• Mandatory HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
• At least one year of professional experience following graduation
• Substantial practical experience working within a blood transfusion or blood bank environment
• Valid Enhanced DBS or equivalent police background clearance
• Legal eligibility to work within the United Kingdom
• Proven ability to handle high-pressure workloads in a transfusion setting
